Visit the Blog’s link if you missed our June meeting and want to catch up on the post-class comments or refurbish your class database. There are also links to other good info from Sue Kindly R.S.V.P. if you plan to attend the meeting and indicate if you will bring a laptop. Meetings are a cooperative experience where TV-TMG users will have the opportunity to lead one of the classes on a volunteer basis. Let us know if you have a favorite source citation you would like to present. Be sure to check the meeting date and time each month for possible changes due to scheduling conflicts of the instructors. Don’t forget to check our blog, the “Tri-Valley TMG User Group” at http://tvtmgug.blogspot.com/. This is a great place to record our citation decisions, post notes and ideas from the meeting, and ask and answer questions. If you haven’t received an invitation to join the blog readership, please e-mail Sue at tvtmg.chair@L-AGS.org. Guests are always welcome at our meetings however we may not be able to accommodate the use of your laptop as desktop space is reserved for registered TV-TMG members. TV-TMG users should bring their laptop and power cord if possible. The class is currently using TMG version 7. A copy of the group's practice database will be provided from our blog. Please download the newest version prior to each workshop. A laptop is not a requirement as the lesson will be digitally projected. TMG questions not specific to all attendees will be addressed in the later part of our meeting or on our blog. Please bring samples of your problem if possible. We hope to see you at the next meeting! Resources: A free demo version of the software can be downloaded at http://www.whollygenes.com. We are also testing a new meeting time: 7 pm – 8:30 pm. Bring your wireless enabled laptop, if possible, as we will be exploring a variety of online websites that are considered top favorites by many genealogy researchers. Many of these websites may be new to you. Attendees with confirmed RSVP will be able to save the URL addresses within your laptop’s “My Favorites” online folder. Please leave the conference table seating for those with laptops. Reservations are required as space is extremely limited. You will receive notification via email if the class is full. Please indicate if you will bring your laptop, as this will affect seating arrangements. Do not RSVP unless you are certain you can attend to allow others to participate. As regular meeting attendees of the L-AGS Study Group requested this session, they will receive first opportunity to RSVP for the July Study Group meeting. Then consideration will be given to others on the Study Group e-mail list. I do apologize our July meeting space only allows for a limited number of seating. Have a favorite website you would like included during our evening’s presentation? Please forward it to study.chair@L-AGS.org. Have a genealogy brick wall? Let the Study Group help you brainstorm your research options. Use our L-AGS Study Group forum for any genealogy topic discussion or computer interest questions. L-AGS is blessed with people willing to share their knowledge and expertise! E-mail the forum at: study.group@L-AGS.org. Please send your suggestions for future Study Group meetings to study.chair@L-AGS.org. We would appreciate your input and feedback. ========================================================================== PRESERVE YOUR STORIES IN THE ROOTS TRACER Our Roots Tracer offers all members the opportunity to preserve the stories of their families in print. This person is usually referred to as the “Black Sheep of the Family.” The easiest to trace are the worst of the breed – criminals and con men who turn up in court records and newspaper headlines. The hardest to trace are those that abandon their families or ‘disappear’ in hard times. There is also a range of disreputable characters in between these extremes. Noted Genealogy Lecturer, John Gleed, who is affiliated with the San Mateo County Genealogical Society and the Menlo Park Family History Center will address this topic Santa Clara City Public Library 2635 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA 95051 http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cascchgs/ SVCGG - Silicon Valley Computer Genealogy Group Saturday, July 10, 2010, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Presenters: Marge Bell - Future of Familysearch.org (ed. she's good) Kirk Larsen - Dealing with Computer Viruses Mark Moor - Reunion for the Macintosh Deb Callan - Getting started with Reunion Randy Jones - Beginning Genealogy Questions Santa Clara Family History Center 875 Quince Ave., Santa Clara, CA 95051 http://www.svcgg.org The above genealogy groups are obtained by going to our L-AGS website (http://www.l-ags.org) and clicking on "Internet Genealogy Links", and then clicking on "Genealogical Societies".
